**About Our Project**

Our organization, the Second Founding of America, is developing a new initiative that will support classroom teachers in their efforts to learn, teach and engage in meaningful discussion about the Reconstruction Era. We're creating an archive of links to critical primary and secondary resources on a variety of Reconstruction Era topics. The site will also feature a lesson plan sharing option for teachers, a teacher forum and other programming opportunities that will provide a brave space for teachers to discuss and explore how the Reconstruction Era impacts our modern day society.

**Responsibilities**

-attend a training session

-collect primary (mainly) and secondary sources on assigned Reconstruction Era public figures, historical events, social/political themes

-write brief, objective summaries about the source in a shared Google Sheet

-upload summaries into the backend of the website (later)

-meet via zoom 1-2/hours per week to discuss, ask questions and/or review research collection

-discover and suggest new themes to research

 

**Qualifications**

-preferred: history focused graduate students, history teachers or history teachers in training

-keen knowledge of, or interest in learning about, the Reconstruction Era

-proficiency in distinguishing between primary and secondary source types

-proficiency in researching primary sources in internet archives (i.e. Library of Congress, state-based archives, university archives, historical newspaper archives) and other internet based sources

-proficiency in/motivation to learn Google Sheets

-demonstrated ability to meet deadlines independently remotely

-analytical and clear writing skills are essential

-team player with good communication skills essential

-must have reliable, consistent internet

-15-20 hours/ week
